 ABOUT 

Kasol is a small town in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated on the bank of Parvati river in Parvati Valley. Kasol is located on the way between Bhuntar and Manikaran. Kasol is popular destination among the tourist and backpackers and also acts as a base for trekkers to Malana, Kheerganga, Sar pass and Pin Parvati pass.

 WHY TO VISIT 

Kasol is a small town which is not yet urbanized and one of the best place to enjoy the nature. That's why many tourist visit Kasol to sit back and relax. The place has a scenic view of snow capped mountains, surrounded by pine and oak trees and the gurgling sound of Parvati river. There are so many things to do in Kasol which include

Kheerganga Trek

Kheerganga has a panoramic view of lush green meadows. It is one of the best places to visit in Kasol. Kheerganga is holy place with a small temple of Shiva, geothermal springs and a bath tank.

Kheerganga is a 11 km  trek from Barshaini which takes around 5 hours to climb on narrow trails. Its one of the easiest trek with beautiful views. Kheerganga provides cheap accommodation including guest houses and camps. Most tourists prefer to stay in camps because of the natural beauty of the place. There are any dhabas on the top but one must bring essentials for the way. 

Parvati River

Parvati river originates from Man Talai Glacier and flows through Parvati valley and finally merge in Beas river. Flow of the Parvati river is too dangerous for any activity but one can sit on a nearby rock and enjoy its view. The lake is situated at an elevation of 4100 meters.

Pin Parvati Pass

Pin Parvati Pass is situated at an altitude of 5319 meters. It is one of the most scenic trail passing through lush green forest, wide open meadows, many waterfalls, lakes and Parvati glacier. It is one of the few treks where one gets to walk on glacier. The Pin Parvati Pass connects the Parvati Valley of Kullu to Pin Valley of Spiti.

The Pin Parvati Pass is a difficult trail full of adventures and give trekkers a thrilling experience. Trek starts from Barsheni Village and ends at Manali in 11 days. The best season for this trek is in the months of June to September. Pin Parvati Trek is a challenging trek that requires great trekking skills and much stamina, hence it is not recommended for beginners.

Tosh is a small village located at the far end of the Parvati Valley. It is famous for cannabis. Tosh is a tranquil village which is untouched by urbanization and modernization. Kasol to Tosh trek is 22 km long trail full of scenic view. The village is popular for its lush green meadows and view of snow peaked mountains.

This place is famous among backpackers who want to escape from chaotic life and want to spend some time at quiet place. People also come here for yoga practices, meditation and for mental peace. The village has a smell of marijuana. There are many visitors from other countries as well, you can meet them and enjoy their culture and their amazing food as well.


Malana

Malana is an ancient Indian village, a side valley of Parvati Valley in North-East of Kullu Valley. It is situated at an altitude of 2652 meters on a remote plateau by the side of Malana river. If you are visiting Kasol and looking up for some sightseeing, adventure and want to see local tradition, Malana is blessing in disguise. The village administration is democratic and they believe to be world's oldest democracy.
Malana is 21 km drive from Kasol and by the end of this drive you also need to trek for 2 km to reach this village. While traveling to Malana you will see extreme beautiful views that will blow you mind.

Sar Pass

Sar Pass is located in Parvati Valley of Kullu district. It is perfect trek for beginners. The trek passes through lush green meadows, thick forest, small villages and snow capped mountains.
Tourist from all around the globe come to trek here. Also you can get all kinds of accommodation starting from budget hotels to high end hotels. 
Sar in local language means lake. While trekking you will have to pass by a small frozen lake and hence it got its name Sar Pass. The main fun of this trek is 100 feet long snow slide.

Manikaran

Manikaran is situated on the bank of Parvati river in Pin Parvati Valley to the north-east of Bhuntar in Kullu valley. It is located at an altitude of 1760 meters and at a distance of 4 km from Kasol and 35 km from Kullu.
Manikaran is famous pilgrimage for for both Hindus and Sikhs. Hindus believe that Manu recreated human life at Manikaran making this place sacred. There are temples of Rama, Krishana and Vishnu. 


According to Hindu belief Lord Shiva along with his wife Parvati were walking in the valley, when Parvati dropped her earings. The jewel was seized by Sheshanaga, and disappeared in earth. Shiva performed Tandav and Sheshanaga surrendered the jewel.

Gurudwara Sahib Manikaran

Sikhs believe that during third Udasi, Guru Nanak came to this place in 1574 along with his disciple Bhai Mardana. Mardana was hungry as there was no food. Guru Nanak send him to collect some food for langar. People gave flour but there was no fire to cook. Guru Nanak asked Mardana to collect stones and assemble them and a hot spring appeared. Guru Nanak asked him to put the chapatis in the spring and the chapatis sank in the water. Guru Nanak asked Mardana to pray to God to float all the chapatis and he will donate one chapati in the name of God, and all chapatis came back. Guru Nanak said that if anyone who donate in the name of God their items will float back. 


Cafe

Kasol has great cafes and restaurants and eating here is a ritual. These cafes offer you mouth watering food. You will get Israeli, Chinese, Indian,  Mexican, and multi cuisine. But eating here itself with the view of mountains is amazing experience.

Camping

Camping is considered to be one of the most adventurous activity of Kasol. You can get an affordable camp in the Parvati Valley. Parvati Valley is known for its beautiful and scenic views of the Himalayas. It would be one of those few experiences which you will not easily forget. You will get to camp near the river and the soothing sound of the river will definitely will make this experience a memorable one. Kasol is also known for stargazing. 


 CLIMATE 

Kasol has good weather throughout the year. October to June is the best months to visit here. If you want to experience chilly weather, October to February is the best time. The average temperature during this time can range from  3 to 10 degree Celsius. You can also experience snowfall late in December to February. From March to May the average temperature is 15 to 22 degree Celsius and the weather is very pleasant. July to September is the monsoon season and Kasol experiences 1590 mm of rainfall yearly. The temperature ranges between 22 to 32 degree Celsius. It is better to skip the months from July to September because land slides, cloudbursts, road blockage and slippery roads are very common. Hotel prices fall to a huge extent during this time. However it is not wise to take that risk.

 TRASNPORT  

By air: Bhuntar is the nearest airport to Kasol. It is 30 km away from Kasol and an hour long drive. There are buses and cab services available from Bhuntar to Kasol. Bus service is available hourly from 8 A.M. to 6 P.M. and cabs are available at anytime. 
Bhuntar is connected to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Chandigarh.

By train: Chandigarh is the nearest broad gauge railway station which 286 km from Kasol. Chandigarh is well connected to all the major cities. You can easily get a bus to Bhuntar and get down at Jari. From Jari you can easily get bus to Kasol. Cab service is all time available from Chandigarh to Kasol.
Kalka is also one station if you are looking to reach Kasol. Kalka is 260 km from Kasol. 

By bus: There are direct buses available from Delhi to Kasol. These are frequent. In case you don't get direct bus to Kasol you can take a bus to Bhuntar which is 30 km from Kasol.
